Group Therapy
At AlignWell Integrative Care, group therapy is a core part of how we help clients heal. Our groups are intentionally designed to support connection, nervous system regulation, and meaningful change through an integrative, trauma-informed approach.
We believe group therapy offers something uniquely powerful: the opportunity to heal not only through insight and skill-building, but through shared experience, validation, and relational safety. Our groups provide a structured, supportive environment where individuals can explore patterns related to trauma, stress, chronic pain, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm—while learning practical tools they can apply in daily life.
Our Process
-

Biological
Each session begins with approximately 30 minutes of gentle, alignment-focused movement designed to support nervous system regulation and enhance body awareness, establishing a foundation for deeper therapeutic engagement.
-

Psychological
Following the movement component, participants engage in psychoeducation focused on the neurobiology of trauma and pain. Experiential interventions—including photovoice, journaling, and guided reflection—help individuals safely explore the connections between physical sensations, emotional responses, and personal meaning in a paced and supportive manner.
-

Social
The sessions conclude with group processing centered on validation, compassion, and shared experience. This collaborative space encourages connection, normalization, and mutual support, reinforcing both individual insight and collective healing.
What Sets Us Apart
Our Integrative, Research-Backed Group Model
AlignWell’s group therapy services are grounded in evidence-based and research-informed practices. Our group model draws from well-established frameworks including:
Trauma-informed care
The biopsychosocial model of health
Somatic and nervous-system-based interventions
Group process and interpersonal theory
In addition to being informed by existing research, our group offerings are shaped by active, ongoing clinical research focused on interdisciplinary and integrative group interventions. Our clinicians are directly involved in studying how group-based, mind-body approaches impact regulation, pain, trauma symptoms, and overall well-being.
This means our groups are not static or “one-size-fits-all.” They are continuously refined using both clinical outcomes and emerging research, ensuring that what we offer reflects current best practices in the field.
